It is a diagnostic medical imaging tests that uses specialized X-ray machines. An abdominal Ct scan will help you understand the cause of the unfathomable pain in your abdominal area. The doctors will be able to examine the organs, blood vessels and bones in the abdominal cavity of your body. The patient will lie on a table that slides into the center of the scanner.

This enables the machine to take pictures which provides cross-sections of internal organs from various angles. These pictures are sent to a computer that records the images. The computer will create separate images around the belly area. It can discern signs of inflammation, infection, injury or disease of the liver, spleen, kidneys, bladder, stomach, intestines, pancreas, and adrenal glands.
